About the event
Join us for The Big Canoe, a one-of-a-kind outdoor learning experience at Lake Minnewasta on Saturday, September 19. This event brings together culture, history, adventure, and community connection.
Presented through a partnership between the City of Morden and Wilderland Adventure Company, this immersive event is designed to connect participants with Métis culture, local history, and hands-on outdoor education through engaging land- and water-based activities.
Participants will rotate through interactive small-group sessions throughout the day, including:
• Voyageur Canoe Experience — Paddle aboard a large-capacity voyageur canoe while learning teamwork, paddling skills, canoe safety, local history, and the legacy of the Voyageurs.
• Scavenger Hunt — Explore the natural landscape through a nature-based scavenger hunt with a self-guided hike.
• Fire Making & Bannock — Learn traditional outdoor fire-making skills and enjoy Bannock cooking over the fire.
